Oscar Bobb could leave Man City in January as Dortmund show interest

Oscar Bobb could be on his way out of Manchester City in the January transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano claiming the winger is considering his future at the club.

The 22-year-old has struggled for consistent minutes under Pep Guardiola, and the situation could develop quickly if City complete a deal for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo.

City have emerged as frontrunners to sign Semenyo in January 2026, and his potential arrival may push Bobb further down the pecking order.

It is understood that if City finalise the move, Bobb will seriously look at his options. He has attracted interest from multiple clubs, with Borussia Dortmund reported to be one of the sides that have already made an approach.

Bobb has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season but has yet to score, and has registered only a single assist.

While he has shown flashes of potential, he has not secured a consistent starting role, and a loan or permanent exit may be needed for him to play regular football.

Dortmund, known for developing young talent, could be an appealing destination for the Norway international.

Merson questions Semenyo’s potential move to Manchester City

Paul Merson has raised doubts over whether Manchester City is the right next step for Semenyo, as speculation continues to grow over a January move.

The Bournemouth forward has a release clause worth £60m plus £5m in add-ons, which becomes active next month, and City are understood to be leading the race for his signature.

However, Merson believes the decision is not straightforward, particularly with uncertainty surrounding Guardiola’s future.

“Man City, how long will Pep Guardiola be there?” he said.

“You sign a four-year deal and the manager leaves at the end of the season, who is to say the new manager will want him to play. He has got to get this move right. He has the world at his feet but has to make the right decision.”

Liverpool and Manchester United remain in the conversation, but City are currently the player’s preference. Chelsea and Tottenham have stepped away from the deal, leaving a clearer picture heading into January.

City leading the race for Semenyo, but no deal yet

Despite interest from elsewhere, Manchester City are now emerging as favourites to sign Semenyo.

Sky Sports News understands the release clause can be triggered in January, but nothing has been fully agreed.

Liverpool and Manchester United are still in the running, and there is work to do before the transfer is confirmed.

Bournemouth’s stance remains firm: if anyone wants Semenyo, the clause must be activated.

The club are focused on their upcoming Premier League match against Brentford on Saturday, and Semenyo will remain in the squad unless negotiations progress.

According to The Athletic, Semenyo wants to join Manchester City in January, with his desire to win trophies a key factor in his decision.

While no final agreement is in place yet, City are believed to be his preferred destination, and the situation could escalate once the window opens.

If City secure Semenyo, and Bobb chooses to leave, January could be a significant month for Guardiola’s attacking options.
