Our transfer insider Graeme Bailey delivers his verdict on some of the players we should be keeping an eye on in the 2025 January window.

The window is officially open and Premier League clubs can buy and sell once again, until February 2, 2026.

There are already deals in place – Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo is heading to Manchester City, whilst Brennan Johnson is on his way across London from Tottenham Hotspur to Crystal Palace.

But who else are we going to see moving?

Let’s take a look at a couple of the big names who we are wondering where they will be after this window – Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo.

Mo Salah (Liverpool FC)

The Prince of Egypt is currently at AFCON, but let’s not forget his situation.

He publicly criticised Liverpool, and was dropped from the squad before returning to the bench for their game with Brighton.

As Salah left Merseyside for international duty, he made it clear that he does not want to be a squad player and that is the issue.

Liverpool, though, have since lost Alexander Isak to injury, Cody Gakpo has been struggling with injury – so it is understood that they have little intention of letting him go and it is 1/6 with the bookmakers that he remains at Anfield.

The Pro League are waiting in the wings, and it is 15/8 that Salah will end up in Saudi Arabia.

Things have gone quiet because he is in Africa, but when he returns we are going to be hearing more about Mo.

Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United)

Liverpool’s arch-rivals Manchester United have their own issues and a big one for them in January is Kobbie Mainoo.

The England international has dropped off the radar and is yet to start a Premier League game this season.

It seems a lifetime ago that he was scoring the winner in the FA Cup final and then starting for England at the last European Championship.

Mainoo is desperate to be playing and Italian giants Napoli are pushing hard for his signature.
