Borussia Dortmund are holding internal discussions about bringing Jadon Sancho back to the club once again this summer, according to reports from Sky Germany.
Sancho is set to become a free agent in June when his Manchester United contract expires at the same time as his current loan arrangement with Aston Villa.
The situation has opened the door for several clubs to explore a move, with Dortmund now among those considering the possibility.
Sancho’s history with Borussia Dortmund
The Bundesliga side know Sancho well after two previous spells at the club.
The winger first joined Dortmund’s academy from Manchester City in 2017 and quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
During his initial stint in Germany, Sancho developed into a key player for Dortmund. His creativity, pace and eye for goal made him one of the most productive attackers in the Bundesliga, attracting interest from several top clubs across Europe.
That form eventually earned him a big-money transfer to Manchester United in the summer of 2021. However, his time at Old Trafford has been inconsistent, and he struggled to replicate the level he showed during his first spell at Dortmund.

Loans and renewed speculation
Sancho returned to the German club on loan in January 2024 after falling out of favour at United.
The move proved beneficial for both sides, as the winger rediscovered some of his confidence and helped Dortmund during the second half of the season.
Following that loan spell, Sancho spent the following campaign on loan at Chelsea, while speculation about a permanent return to Dortmund has continued in the background.
Dortmund weighing up another move
According to Sky Germany, Dortmund’s leadership have now begun internal talks about whether a third spell for the England international would make sense.
One factor working in Dortmund’s favour is Sancho’s reported willingness to accept a lower salary than the one he currently earns at Manchester United.
However, not everyone within the club is convinced that another reunion would be the right decision at this stage.
Some voices in the boardroom are said to have doubts about whether bringing Sancho back again fits with Dortmund’s current plans.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Dortmund are expected to continue evaluating their options before making a final decision on whether to pursue a deal.
