Arsenal news: Mikel Arteta weighing up moves for Liverpool’s Diogo Jota and Fiorentina’s Moise Kean
Arsenal remained idle in the January transfer window, as the Gunners made no new signings.
As injuries mount at the Emirates Stadium, many supporters are frustrated at the club’s lack of winter incomings.
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus remain injured, whereas Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz both picked up fresh injuries - with the latter set to miss the rest of the season.
Despite their bad luck, Arsenal have stayed within touching distance of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table and are already qualified for the Champions League round of 16.
However, the Gunners’ attention seems to already be on next season, with the North Londoners eyeing potential summer moves for several forwards.
Diogo Jota, Liverpool
As reported by the Anfield Watch, Liverpool will listen to offers for Diogo Jota, with the Reds growing increasingly frustrated with the 28-year-old’s lack of fitness.
The Merseyside club have made the Portuguese attacker available for the right fee despite a reluctance to sell to a direct rival.
Arsenal were linked with Jota last summer and could renew their interest in the Portugal international.
Plagued by injuries
However, the centre forward’s injury record - the reason Liverpool are open to offers - could put the Gunners off.
Jota has started just eight matches in all competitions this season after missing 16 games through injury.
In total, Jota has missed 436 days of action since joining Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020.
Transfermarkt value the striker at just over £40million, so if Arsenal can negotiate a cut fee, it could be worth the Gunners taking a punt.
Moise Kean, Fiorentina
Premier League fans should recognise the name Moise Kean.
The striker signed for Everton in a deal worth up to £37million in 2019 from Juventus, however, the move never really worked out.
In 39 appearances, the Italy international managed just four goals for the Toffees and spent more time out on loan than he did in Merseyside.
However, since joining Serie A side Fiorentina last summer, the 24-year-old has revived his career, scoring 19 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Premier League interest
As per journalist Nicolò Schira, both Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring the Italian forward.
Kean has a release clause of €52million from July, but according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina are ready to offer their star striker a new deal containing an increased release clause in an attempt to ward off the North London duo.
The Gunners will more than likely have to pay over the odds for Kean, but given his age and significant potential, it could prove to be a good signing in the long run.
