Aston Villa news: Unai Emery wants to sign two more players in January, Loïc Badé linked

Unai Emery has stated that Aston Villa are looking to bring in at least three players during the January transfer market.

With the addition of Donyell Malen, that means there are two players left for Villa fans to get excited about.

Transfer News Blitz writer Harrison Pearce has explored the latest rumours circulating Villa Park.

Loïc Badé, Sevilla

If you recognise the name Loïc Badé, it might be because the Sevilla defender had a failed loan spell at Premier League side Nottingham Forest in 2022.

However, you may also know the 24-year-old for winning the Europa League with Sevilla in the same season, beating Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma 4-1 on penalties in the final.

The Frenchman is ranked 44th amongst La Liga defenders for his performances this season, with the defender winning 5.12 duels and 2.17 tackles per 90 minutes during his 16 appearances.

In comparison to former Sevllia and current Aston Villa central defender Diego Carlos, the Brazilian has only won 2.28 duels and 0.87 tackles per 90 minutes in 10 appearances for the West Midlands club this season.

Badé would offer a significant improvement in the centre of defence for Villa, and with a seven-year age gap between the two players, would certainly be a mainstay in Emery’s defence for many years to come.

The French defender’s physicality would be a perfect attribute alongside Pau Torres, a combination which would add balance to Emery’s playing style.

At times this season, Torres has been easily beaten in the air, so having an aerially dominant player such as Bade would be hugely beneficial.

Aston Villa are actively looking for a new central defender, with Carlos expected to leave for Turkish side Fenerbaçhe.

Badé, who won a silver medal with Thierry Henry’s France at the recent Paris Olympic Games, could move to Birmingham this month as a replacement for the veteran defender.

Andrés García

Levante right-back Andrés García has been linked with a £7million move to Aston Villa over the last week, as Monchi looks to beat Potrugueuse side Sporting to the Spaniard’s signature.

The 21-year-old is a player who loves to drive forward into half-spaces and has six goal contributions in LaLiga2 this season.

Most of the defender’s goals come from range or tight angles within the six-yard box.

The Spanish full-back has been likened to fellow countryman and Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro, with the two sharing plenty of key attributes.

Porro has established himself as one of the best-attacking right-backs in the Premier League, and García could soon do the same.

If Villa are to secure the signing of García, the youngster will have to play second fiddle to Matty Cash whilst he gets up to speed with Emery’s tactics.

With the Villans’ lineup constantly changing, it may take the full-back longer to build relationships with his teammates on and off the pitch.

This signing has a real Morgan Rogers scent in the air, coming from a lower-league club in the January transfer window and potentially turning into a hidden gem under the guidance of Emery’s magic.
