Betting news: Arsenal boss Arteta rated 12/1 to replace Pep if he leaves Man City

Mikel Arteta is 12/1 with William Hill to swap Arsenal for Manchester City and become the next City manager after Pep Guardiola, following rumours that the coming season may be Guardiola’s last at the Etihad.

Arteta is well within the top 10 names in the betting, a list that is currently headed by Roberto De Zerbi at 4/1, followed by Girona manager Míchel at 6/1 and Xabi Alonso at 8/1.

At bigger odds, other names on the list include Mauricio Pochettino at 16/1, Eddie Howe at 22/1, as well as José Mourinho and Jürgen Klopp, both priced at 66/1.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Rumours that next season could be Pep Guardiola’s last at Manchester City are sure to have sown seeds of fear among City fans, and if the Spaniard does depart it could see a major shake up at the Etihad.

“On the strength of those rumours, Mikel Arteta is sure to be on City’s radar, having run them so close as manager of rivals Arsenal this season, and he’s just 12/1 to find himself in the City dugout should Guardiola depart.

“Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is our current favourite for the role at 4/1, while Girona boss Míchel and Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso are also thought to be favoured at 6/1 and 8/1 respectively.”
