Chelsea news: Enzo Maresca ready to break the bank for Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Chelsea have struggled for goals from wide areas this season, as the Blues look to strengthen their attacking options to compete for the Premier League title.

Highly rated winger, Pedro Neto, was signed for £60million from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer to address this issue, however, the Portuguese man has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge, registering only four goal contributions in 18 appearances.

With Neto’s poor form and Mkhaylo Mudryk provisionally suspended by the FA for a failed drug test, Enzo Maresca is ready to splash the cash on a new winger.

Chelsea’s main target

The Chelsea higher-ups believe that Georgian winger Khvica Kvaratskhelia is the right man to bring to West London - the fast, direct and skilful wideman would give Premier League defenders plenty to think about.

The 23-year-old is highly rated by Napoli and would set the Blues back around £70million, which is a huge amount of money for a player in poor form.

So far this season the Georgia international has only scored five goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.

This is a stark difference to the 2022/23 season, where Kvaratskhelia won the Serie A with Napoli, registering 12 goals and 13 assists while being given the nickname ‘Kvaradona’ - a homage to Diego Maradona’s time at the club.

There has been lots of interest from clubs all across Europe, including Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Kvaratskhelia ready to leave Napoli

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Georgian attacker has recently told Napoli of his desire to leave the club.

Former Chelsea manager and current Gli Azzurri boss Antonio Conte confirmed that his star man had asked to leave.

Speaking to the press, the Italian said: “I spoke to Khvicha and he confirmed his plan to leave the club immediately.”

Conte has begun to favour David Neres and Matteo Politano over Kvaratskhelia since he asked to leave, leaving the winger out of Napoli’s 2-1 win over Hellas Verona on Sunday.
