Chelsea news: Real Madrid eyeing move for one of Enzo Maresca’s main men

One of the Premier League's best players could be on his way to Real Madrid

Chelsea have been a revelation under new boss Enzo Maresca, with the Blues flying high in second place in the Premier League.

The West Londoners have picked up some huge results as they have forced themselves into the title race, taking points off Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham.

Maresca has a huge squad at his disposal after spending over £200million on transfers in the summer, however, one man has been integral to the Blues’ success.

‘Cold’ Palmer is ice hot

Cole Palmer has picked up exactly where he left off at the end of Chelsea’s last campaign and has been in red-hot form at Stamford Bridge this season.

The 22-year-old has 11 goals and six assists in 15 Premier League appearances and looks on course to smash his league tally of 33 goal contributions from last season.

The Chelsea forward was notably left out of Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League squad by Maresca – a decision which looks to have paid off.

Interest from Madrid

Palmer’s fantastic form for club and country over the last 18 months has not gone unnoticed, and much to the displeasure of the Chelsea faithful, Real Madrid are reportedly looking to warm up the cold Englishman in Spain, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The England international only joined the Blues in September 2023 for around £40million from fellow Premier League side Manchester City.

As per Transfermarkt, Palmer’s market value is more than double what Chelsea paid - £90million – however, the Premier League club are likely to demand a fee in excess of £100million.

Todd Boehly’s policy of giving Chelsea’s new signings hugely long contracts could pay off in this situation, with Palmer’s current deal expiring in 2033.
