Premier League betting tips: Ange Postecoglou and Ruud van Nistelrooy favourites for the chopping block

The Premier League is a notoriously difficult league to do well in, where a manager’s job security always seems to be on a knife-edge.

In fact, the average lifespan of a manager’s tenure in England’s top division is just 787 days, according to The Athletic.

From Mauricio Pochettino leaving Chelsea by ‘mutual consent’ despite finishing sixth to Nathan Jones and Frank de Boer managing just 12 games between them, the Premier League is still as ruthless as ever.

The cut-throat nature of the English top flight has already seen six managerial changes this season, but who will be next to be sacked?

Transfer News Blitz’s Content Editor Edward Moss looks at the most likely departures that could make you a payday.

Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have endured a tough time this season, with the North Londoners sitting 12th in the Premier League table.

Admittedly, Spurs have been hit with a huge injury crisis - Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke are just a few of the senior stars who have spent extended periods on the sideline.

However, football is an unforgiving sport, with Ange Postecoglou currently the bookies’ favourite to be the next manager to get sacked.

Following gutless defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, a large portion of the Tottenham fanbase voiced their frustrations with the Australian’s tactics.

It would be no surprise if the 59-year-old soon faced the axe.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, Leicester City

In what is appearing to be becoming a common theme in the Premier League, newly promoted side Leicester City are one of the favourites to go down this season.

The Foxes looked to have turned their fortunes around after appointing Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy in December, with the Dutchman beating West Ham 3-1 in his first match in charge.

However, since then, the Midlands club have won just one Premier League game, and a lack of investment in the January transfer window has not helped their situation.

Reportedly, van Nistelrooy has grown frustrated by “broken promises,” as per Leicester City News.

If Leicester fail to turn their form around, the 48-year-old could be on his way out of the King Power Stadium.

No manager to leave

There have already been six managerial changes this season, so there is every likelihood that there will be no more.

Erik ten Haag and Sean Dyche have arguably been the highest-profile sackings of the campaign.

Steve Cooper, Gary O’Neil, Russell Martin and Julen Lopetegui make up the other managers who have been sacked this season.

ODDS: 7/1 (Ladbrokes / Coral)
