Ever since his public fallout with Liverpool boss Arne Slot, months of rumours about Mohamed Salah’s future at the club has been a question on everyone’s mind, with it now looking more likely that the Liverpool legend will leave in the summer, with a move to the Saudi Pro League not being the only option for the Egyptian.

At the end of last season, Mo Salah signed a new deal with Liverpool, keeping him at the club until 2027, with reports saying the club giving the Liverpool legend around £400,000 a week.

But after a drop-off in form and fallouts with manager Arne Slot it’s looking more likely that he won’t be at the club next season. For several years, Salah has been linked with the Saudi Pro League, with the club rejecting a bid back in September 2023, worth £150m from Al Ittihad.

If Salah decided to leave Liverpool in the summer it is likely that Saudi Arabia will still be the top option, but with Liverpool not wanting to let him go on a free next summer, it is likely that they will welcome bids from the MLS as well as the Saudi Pro League.

Who could replace Salah at Liverpool?

If Mohamed Salah were to leave the club in the summer, who could Liverpool look at to replace the The Reds legend.

With Micheal Olise shining at Bayern Munich’s, with 10 goals and 16 assists in the Bundesliga he could be a good replacement for Salah at Liverpool, but Liverpool would need to pay big money for a player of his calibre.

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey says the Reds should go all out for PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, believing he is the ideal replacement for Mo Salah, but with 4 goals and 3 assists the Reds might look for more options.

Do Liverpool already have a Salah replacement?

Rio Ngumoha has looked good when he has come off the bench for Liverpool, especially in the game against Newcastle United where he scored the winner for the Reds.

With Salah potentially leaving in the summer, Rio Ngumoha could look to get more game time to help him reach heights he can possibly achieve.

Richard Keys thoughts

Richard Keys, a sports presenter has shared his thoughts on where ‘the smart money is’ on the potential Salah move.

Keys has stated that Liverpool should get money for the Egyptian rather than letting him go on a free.

“Liverpool also had a change of mind about letting him go and were happy to offer him a new deal – but only for one reason, I’ve said this before as well – so they could get money for him rather than see him walk away.”

Keys believes that Salah shouldn’t go to Saudi or the MSL and that there is a smarter move for him.

He continued: “I think he’ll leave Liverpool at the end of this season, but I don’t think he’ll go to Saudi. The smart move is on a move to Italy.
