WHO IS SAID EL MALA?

Born in 2006, Said El Mala is a rising star in German football and currently represents 1. FC Koln in the Bundesliga.

Despite his young age, he has already made a significant impact. El Mala has registered five goals and two assists from just four league starts this season, including a late strike against Werder Bremen last Saturday.

His performances have not gone unnoticed on the international stage either. In November, Julian Nagelsmann rewarded his form with a call-up to the senior German national team for the first time.

An impressive achievement for someone yet to make his professional debut only a short time ago.

Cologne head coach Lukas Kwasniok has been quick to praise the youngster’s rapid rise.

He said: “Someday, he will be sold for an incredible fee. That’s okay. I have the feeling right now that he carries Cologne close to his heart, is enjoying his time here, and so are we.”

El Mala’s electric displays and maturity on the pitch have already placed him among Europe’s most exciting emerging talents, and unsurprisingly, major clubs are beginning to circle.

COULD A MOVE TO ENGLAND BE NEXT?

Interest in El Mala extends beyond Germany’s borders. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have both been credited with admiration for the winger, but several Premier League giants are now firmly in the mix.

Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the January window, with each club eager to bolster their attacking options.

Brighton & Hove Albion, renowned for their exceptional recruitment strategy in recent seasons, are also said to be exploring a move, with a potential deal valued at up to £30.6 million.

Given their track record of developing young talent, a move to the Amex Stadium could prove a smart step for both the player and the club.

The future

Whether El Mala remains in the Bundesliga or makes a high-profile switch to England, one thing is clear: Europe’s biggest teams have taken notice, and his future is set to be one of the major storylines of the upcoming transfer window.
