Fresh speculation linking Manchester City striker Erling Haaland with a move to Real Madrid has been firmly dismissed by the player’s representatives following comments made by presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme.
The businessman, who is challenging long-serving president Florentino Perez in Real Madrid’s upcoming elections, recently claimed that Haaland would join the Spanish giants if he wins the vote on June 7.
Riquelme made the bold statement during a television appearance, where he unveiled what he described as a major part of his sporting project for the club.
He claimed that both Haaland and Manchester City midfielder Rodri would become Real Madrid players under his leadership.
“Haaland has a release clause, and he wants to come to Madrid. If I break my promises regarding either of these players, I’ve signed a guarantee where I’d pay 100% of membership costs for next season,” Riquelme said.
However, the claims were quickly rejected by Haaland’s inner circle.
Haaland’s representatives respond
According to reports, Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge Haaland, and his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, issued a clear response after Riquelme’s comments began attracting attention.
Their message was straightforward: “Very entertaining, but not true.”
The pair denied reports suggesting that any agreement exists between Haaland and either Real Madrid or Riquelme’s presidential campaign.
They also wished both candidates well in the upcoming election while distancing themselves from the transfer speculation.
The denial comes amid growing discussion over Riquelme’s ambitious promises as he attempts to unseat Perez in what is Real Madrid’s first genuinely contested presidential election in many years.

Manchester City remain relaxed
The latest reports suggest that Manchester City are not concerned by the rumours surrounding their star striker.
Haaland only recently committed his future to the Premier League champions with a long-term contract, and there is currently no indication that a transfer is imminent.
Sources close to the situation have also dismissed suggestions that an agreement has already been reached regarding a future move to Madrid.
For now, the speculation appears to be linked more to Real Madrid’s presidential campaign than to any genuine transfer negotiations, with Haaland’s representatives making it clear that the stories circulating this week are simply not true.
