Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling Aurelien Tchouameni, with Manchester United the favourites to land the midfielder.
Tchouameni has been at the centre of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with a move away from the Spanish giants widely discussed.
Earlier in July, however, reports from Spain suggested that Real Madrid and the 26-year-old had agreed a new five-year contract, although nothing has been officially confirmed.
Real Madrid eye Rodri move
It is now being reported that Jose Mourinho is willing to sell Tchouameni to Manchester United in an effort to fund a move for World Cup 2026 winner Rodri.
The Manchester City and Spain midfielder won the World Cup Golden Ball after being named the tournament’s best player following Spain’s victory over Argentina on Sunday, July 19.
La Roja’s captain is reportedly valued at £85m and has one year remaining on his Manchester City contract.
He is, however, expected to miss the start of the 2026/27 Premier League season after undergoing minor back surgery.
Should Real Madrid make a serious move for Rodri, Tchouameni could join the Red Devils for around £68m – the fee Madrid paid AS Monaco for the Frenchman.
Manchester United’s interest is reportedly “strong,” with the World Cup now complete.

Manchester United revamp their midfield

Following Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury, United’s midfield has been reshaped.
Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos have already arrived at Old Trafford in deals worth a combined £85m.
Tielemans joined from Aston Villa after playing a key role under Unai Emery, while Santos arrived from Chelsea after showing plenty of promise both in west London and during his loan spell at Strasbourg.
Should the deal materialise, Tchouameni would become another marquee signing for Manchester United as they look to build on last season’s progress heading into the 2026/27 campaign.
The France international also fits the club’s preferred recruitment profile, with players aged between 22 and 26 targeted, while bringing valuable experience at the highest level.
