Chelsea news: Blues among six clubs linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha

Matheus Cunha is one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League this January, with the Wolverhampton Wanderers captain impressing so far this season.

According to the Daily Mail, six Premier League clubs are keen on the Brazilian, with Chelsea among the sides mentioned.

Arsenal and Nottingham Forest were also named and appear to be the most likely to make an offer for the 25-year-old.

Brazilian on fire

Cunha is in talks with Wolves to sign a new deal at the club, however, the two parties are still discussing a release clause, which could include two figures based on whether the Black Country club stay up or gets relegated, as per Ben Jacobs.

The Old Gold currently sits 17th in the Premier League table, level on points with Ipswich Town who are in the drop zone.

The Brazilian has attracted interest from clubs across Europe following his fine form this season, contributing 14 goals and assists in 21 matches.

Those stats look even more impressive taking into consideration that Wolves have scored just 32 goals all season in the Premier League, with Cunha chipping in with 10 of those.

According to Caught Offside, Wolves have set a hefty price tag of £60million for the Brazilian.

The West Midlands club have offered the forward a huge pay rise in an effort to pin him to a new long-term deal.

Chelsea interest

The Blues are fighting for the Cunha’s signature as Paul Winstanley, Chelsea’s Sporting Director, looks to add to The West London club’s attack.

Chelsea currently have Pedro Neto, Noni Madueke and Jadon Sancho as wide options, however, all three have struggled to consistently score goals.

French forward Christopher Nkunku is also set to depart Stamford Bridge, so the Blues need to bring in a player of a similar profile.

Chelsea will face tough competition from other Premier League sides for the Brazilian, and considering the price tag, a move to the blue part of London could be off the cards.
