Chelsea news: England duo Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Ben Chilwell head for Stamford Bridge exit

With the January transfer window now well past the halfway mark, clubs up and down the Premier League are hard at work to get deals done.

Chelsea are one side with plenty to do, as Enzo Maresca looks to cut down his inflated squad.

Transfer News Blitz writer Toby Marks has looked at who is closest to leaving Stamford Bridge this month.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

According to Caught Offside, Everton are interested in Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The midfielder joined the Blues last July from Leicester City for £40million, adding to Chelsea’s seemingly endless squad list.

Unfortunately, the 26-year-old has not had the start many had hoped for at Chelsea, notching just three goal contributions, all of which have come in the UEFA Conference League.

Maresca has only used the Englishman sparingly in the Premier League, limiting the central midfielder to just 55 minutes of football across five matches.

The Blues boss is not actively looking to sell Dewsbury-Hall but has also not ruled out a possible departure for the midfielder.

New Everton manager David Moyes is looking to strengthen his squad after taking over at Goodison Park, especially as Abdoulaye Doucouré has made no goal contributions in 19 Premier League appearances this season.

Last season Dewsbury-Hall notched 12 goals and 14 assists as Leicester City won promotion from the Championship, so could be an ideal signing for the Toffees.

Ben Chilwell

Ben Chilwell is another English talent set to leave Stamford Bridge, after the £50million left-back, also signed from Leicester City, has been frozen out of the Blues’ first-team squad.

The 28-year-old has not made an appearance for Chelsea since September when he played 45 minutes in a comfortable 5-0 win over Barrow in the EFL Cup.

The defender, who is reportedly on £200,000-a-week, is now looking to leave Stamford Bridge in hopes of playing regular first-team football.

Maresca likes to use versatile players who can play in multiple positions, which is why the Italian has preferred Renato Viega to Chilwell this season.

Everton seems to be the full-back’s most likely destination, with Moyes looking to bring in a quality defender to compete with Vitaliy Mykolenko.
