Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk set to sign new deals at Anfield
Liverpool are cruising to a 20th top-flight league title this season, with 11 points between them and second-place Arsenal.
The Reds’ campaign has been somewhat overshadowed by the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, whose contracts are set to expire in June.
However, Salah and van Dijk are now both ‘fully expected’ to stay at the club.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to sign new deals
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, a new contract for Salah is ‘imminent’, with an agreement between the Egyptian and Liverpool now in the ‘final stages’.
The 32-year-old has had a mighty impressive campaign at Anfield this season, tallying an immense 54 goal contributions in 45 appearances.
Liverpool are also ‘confident’ that club captain van Dijk will stay at the club, with the Dutchman confirming ‘progress’ had been made after the Reds’ defeat to Fulham.
Both players are expected to sign two-year contract extensions, as per David Ornstein.
Trent Alexander-Arnold edges towards Liverpool exit
Liverpool fans, look away now because Romano has also reported that Alexander-Arnold is ‘closing in’ on a move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid made an approach for the right-back in January, however, Arne Slot’s side were still hopeful of convincing the defender to stay in Merseyside at the time.
The England international now looks set to join up with Jude Bellingham in Madrid for free this summer.
While the Reds will be disappointed to lose ‘one of their own’, Liverpool supporters can take some solace in Salah and van Dijk extending their stays at Anfield.
