Man City news: Kyle Walker says his time in Manchester is ‘not over’ yet
On loan AC Milan right-back Kyle Walker has refused to draw a line under his future with Manchester City.
The 34-year-old joined the Italian giants on a six-month loan deal in January, with an option to sign permanently for £4.2million.
Walker had lost his place in the first team to Rico Lewis after a decline in his performances for the Premier League side.
However, the English international has recently stated that he would not rule out making a return to Pep Guardiola’s side.
Walker: ‘The chapter’s not fully closed’
Speaking on his podcast - You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker - he revealed the emotional farewell he had at the City Football Academy training centre.
After recounting the “nerve-wracking” goodbye to his former teammates, Walker went on to insist that he would consider making a comeback to the club he made over 200 appearances for.
“Listen, it's not over,” he said.
“I'm just on loan here [AC Milan].
“I've got to take that into consideration that I can go back.
“Obviously, both parties need to come to an agreement come at the end of the season and listen, the chapter’s not fully closed, but we'll see what happens.”
City return remains unlikely
Despite his intentions to return to England, Milan have reportedly made it clear they would like to make his move permanent, even though he made the headlines recently for heavily criticising his teammate, Joao Felix, who is on loan from Chelsea.
Guardiola also commented on the defender’s stay with the Serie A side when asked if he still considers his ex-skipper as a part of his squad.
The Spaniard offered a straightforward response, simply stating that the six-time Premier League winner “is a player for Milan”.
Pep Guardiola to explore market in search of full-back solutions
The right-back spot has been held by Lewis and Matheus Nunes since Walker’s departure, but neither City player has been able to consistently hold down the spot this season.
Therefore, it is heavily expected that Guardiola will look to add to his defensive reinforcements from January by recruiting a full-back this summer.
Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso was mentioned as a potential target at the start of the year.
Since then, the rumours have continued to spread with the Italian’s agent hinting that the Manchester club could reignite their interest once the season ends.
Other names have been mentioned, such as Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
