Man City News: Pep Guardiola targeting Omar Marmoush and Ola Aina as City reinforcements

Manchester City are on course for their worst finish under Pep Guardiola as the club sits 6th in the Premier League.

The Cityzens have endured quite the fall from grace this season, with the Mancunians winning six of the last seven Premier League titles.

City have set themselves an extremely high standard to adhere to, and Guardiola has targeted several players he wants to bring in this January to get his side back on track.

Transfer News Blitz writer Edward Moss explores who could be heading to the Blue side of Manchester this January.

Omar Marmoush, Eintracht Frankfurt

Everyone and their dog seem to be interested in signing Omar Marmoush this January, with Manchester appearing to be the most likely destination.

Fellow Premier League side Arsenal are reportedly interested in the Egypitan, but it appears that City are leading the race.

As per the Guardian, Eintracht Frankfurt are holding out for a fee of over £50million for their star attacker, as the Bundesliga club looks to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Frankfurt are currently 3rd in the Bundesliga table, and Marmoush’s 21 goal contributions in 15 games have played a huge part in getting them there.

City would need to pay a lot of money to prize Marmoush away from Germany this month, but with the club backed by Abu Dhabi, a deal could well happen.

Ola Aina, Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are the fairytale story of the 2024/25 Premier League season, with the club flying high in 3rd.

Nuno Espírito Santo is well on track to lead Forest to their joint best-ever Premier League finish, where the East Midlands club finished 3rd in the 1994/95 season under Frank Clark.

Nigerian right-back Ola Aina has been integral in the Reds’ brilliant run, with the 28-year-old starting every league game this season.

The defender's great form has not gone unnoticed though, with reigning champions Man City beginning to circle.

As City already have Kyle Walker and Rico Lewis as right-back options it is hard to see where Aina would fit in at the Etihad, however, there is no doubt the Nigeria international would offer some brilliant competition for the Manchester City backline.

Abdukodir Khusanov, RC Lens

Left out of the headline because his name is hard to spell, Abdukodir Khusanov is the most likely player in this article to join Man City this month.

French side RC Lens picked up the defender in 2023 for just €100,000 from Belarusian club Energetik-BGU Minsk.

The 20-year-old is subject to interest from several top clubs across Europe according to Fabrizio Romano, and Manchester City will be hoping they are frontrunners for the central defender.

Teamtalk is reporting that Khusanov will cost City around £30million, but marked as one of the best centre-back prospects in European football, that fee could prove to be a bargain.
