Man Utd news: Joshua Zirkzee linked away from Old Trafford as Juventus prepare Dusan Vlahovic swap deal
Manchester United have struggled to make an impact in the Premier League under Ruben Amorim so far this season, with the Red Devils in 13th place.
United are without a win in their last five games in all competitions, however, secured a good result at Anfield last week in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Dutch forward Joshua Zikzee, who joined Man United in the summer from Italian side Bologna, has come under heavy criticism for his recent performances.
Struggled to adapt
Since moving to Old Trafford in the summer for £36.5million, Zirkzee has struggled with the physicality and skill required in the Premier League.
So far this season the 23-year-old has only registered three goals and one assist, with the Dutchman failing to keep up with the pace of the league.
Zirkzee was booed off the Old Trafford pitch against Newcastle United in December after the attacker was substituted after 33 minutes.
Man United writer, Andy Mitten, described the incident as “a mess” and “beyond bad” after the United striker failed to register a single shot.
Red Devil’s boss, Amorim, has rallied behind Zirkzee when asked about the forward’s future at the club but failed to rule out a move.
He said: “I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and is trying in training.
“We don’t know, the window is open and we will see what happens.”
Interest from Italy
As per the Mirror, several Serie A clubs are heavily interested in making a January move for Zirkzee.
Juventus appear to be the frontrunners for the Dutch attacker and are ready to use Dusan Vlahovic as part of a deal.
The Serbian striker could be set to leave the Italian giants after refusing to take a pay cut.
This potential move could be a great one for all involved - Vlahovic has bagged 12 goals in all competitions for the Old Lady this season, whilst Zirkzee’s play style appears to be more well-suited to the Italian league.
