Man Utd news: Ruben Amorim to clear out squad as several huge stars are set to leave Old Trafford
Manchester United have fallen well below their usual standards this season, with the Red Devils currently 13th in the Premier League.
However, United did enjoy a change of fortunes in their last match, earning a well-deserved point at Anfield in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The January transfer window is now in full swing, and Ruben Amorim is poised to begin his overhaul of the Man United squad.
Several high-profile players have been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, and Transfer News Blitz writer Edward Moss has looked at who could leave the club this month.
Casemiro
Things have never really worked out for Casemiro since his £70million move from Real Madrid to Manchester United in 2022.
A serial winner in the Spanish capital, the 32-year-old has been in and out of the United starting lineup this season.
The defensive midfielder has featured 22 times in all competitions in the Red Devils’ current campaign but has failed to impress the Man United faithful.
According to the Telegraph, multiple clubs from the Saudi Pro League are keen on signing the Brazilian this month.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are said to be favourites, however, the Brazilian’s huge wages, in addition to a sizeable transfer fee, could be a put-off for the Saudi Arabians.

Marcus Rashford
Possibly the most talked about footballer of 2025, Marcus Rashford appears to be on his way out of his boyhood club.
Since new manager Amorim took over the Red Devils in November, the 27-year-old has failed to impress and has been left out of the United matchday squad on several occasions.
Despite the England international’s undoubted talent, many clubs have been put off by the forward’s massive wages – there is a common theme beginning to present itself here…
However, as per the Guardian, Italian giants AC Milan are keen on adding Rashford to their English cohort in a loan deal for the rest of the season.
The Serie A side is not without competition, with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund also rumoured to be interested in taking the attacker on loan this month.
Antony
Moving from Ajax to United for a staggering £86million in 2022, Antony’s move to Manchester has to go down as one of the worst pieces of business in Premier League history.
The Brazilian has played just 84 minutes of Premier League football this season following the emergence of Amad Diallo.
The Manchester United hierarchy have no chance of making their money back on the 24-year-old, but several clubs across Europe are keen to bring the winger in on loan this month.
Spanish side Real Betis are said to be leading the race, as per the Independent, with Greek outfit Olympiakos also interested according to the Sun.
The Red Devils would more than likely have to cover a large portion of the forward’s huge £200,000 a week wages to make a potential loan move viable though.

Joshua Zirkzee
Despite only joining the club this summer, Joshua Zirkzee has been liked with a move away from Old Trafford this January.
It is safe to say that the Dutchman has struggled to find his feet in Manchester, only scoring four goals in all competitions.
Juventus are rumoured to be interested in signing the 23-year-old, with Team Talk reporting that Dušan Vlahović could be included in a deal for the forward.
United boss Amorim has rallied behind Zirkzee, and according to Sky Sports, the Netherlands international has no desire to leave, so any possible transfer looks completely off the cards.
Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho
Don’t scratch your eyes, you’re really reading this – Manchester United are contemplating the sale of wonder kids Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
The Red Devils are ready to reluctantly listen to offers for their star pair to help comply with financial rules, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Mail Online reports that the United higher-ups only consider attacker Diallo and French defender Leny Yoro as “untouchable” within the United squad.
Fellow Premier League side Chelsea are said to be the frontrunners for Mainoo if he does leave Man United, however, it is quite doubtful that the England international will leave midway through the season.
