Man Utd news: Red Devils set to rival Premier League club for wonderkid

Manchester United and Newcastle United are interested in promising Premier League star

Ruben Amorim has been in charge at Manchester United for just over a month, but the Portuguese manager is already planning for the future.

The 39-year-old has taken a no-nonsense approach since taking the reins at Old Trafford, notably excluding Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from his matchday squad for the Manchester derby.

The Red Devils have had an inconsistent campaign so far, most recently being knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the quarter-finals by Tottenham Hotspur.

There is no doubt that there are going to be major changes in the red side of Manchester, and Amorim is plotting a move for one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents.

At rock bottom

Southampton have been nothing short of dreadful in the Premier League, with the club sitting in dead last after picking up a measly five points from 16 games.

Following their 5-0 thrashing at home by Tottenham last weekend, manager Russell Martin was relieved of his duties by the club, with the Saints still yet to appoint a new boss.

Many believe that Southampton are already resigned to playing Championship football next season, with their defence looking like they are already on their summer break.

The Saints could be too far gone to escape the drop, but they have had one shining light come out of their miserable campaign.

Attracting interest from the big boys

Tyler Dibling has made 15 appearances in the Premier League for Southampton this season and has by far been one of the club’s best performers.

The 18-year-old has scored once this season – which does not sound too impressive until you realise that Southampton have only managed to score 11 times.

The young forward’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, with Manchester United and Newcastle United ready to pounce if – or when – the Saints get relegated.

Dibling is one of the hottest young English talents at the moment and will be sure to cost a hefty sum of money for whoever makes a move.

Before he was sacked, ex-Southampton boss Martin said: “I was told some rumours about Man Utd, one was a bid of £21million.

“I’m not sure you’ll get his left leg for that.”

If those quotes are to be taken at face value, Southampton are going to let their latest young star leave on the cheap.
