Man Utd news: Red Devils ready to rival Newcastle for Atalanta star Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman is ready to leave Serie A side Atalanta after feeling “disrespected” by manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 67-year-old brandished Lookman as “one of the worst penalty takers he has ever seen”, following the Nigerian’s penalty miss as Atalanta crashed out of the Champions League to Club Brugge.

According to Sky Sports Switzerland, the African Footballer of the Year will leave the Italian club in the summer.

European clubs circle

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in the 27-year-old, with Manchester United also keen on the Nigeria international, as per Teamtalk.

Lookman has bags of Premier League experience already, having spells at Everton, Leicester City and Fulham, where he accumulated 96 appearances.

Serie A clubs Juventus and Inter Milan are also exploring a deal for the forward, along with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Atalanta have set an asking price of just £53.8million for the 2024 Ballon d’Or nominee, which could prove to be one of the bargains of the summer.

Ademola Lookman on fire

It is safe to say that Lookman found his home when he joined Atalanta in 2022.

Since his arrival, the Nigerian has made 107 appearances, scoring 49 goals and contributing 22 assists.

Last season, the attacker scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final against German side Bayer Leverkusen, as Atalanta lifted their first-ever European trophy.

Lookman was inconsistent before moving to Italy, but has matured during his three-year stint - there is no doubt that he will be a success wherever he ends up in the summer.
