Transfer Thursday: Tottenham sign Leicester City goalkeeper Lize Kop and more in the latest WSL news

The January transfer is well underway, and clubs up and down the Women’s Super League are looking to add to their squads.

In our brand new weekly series, ‘Transfer Thursday’, Transfer News Blitz writer Nicole Powell has rounded up all the latest news and deals from the WSL.

Spurs bring in a new shot-stopper

Tottenham Hotspur have signed Lize Kop from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

Kop has made over 100 appearances for club and country, having been a part of the squad that made it to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup quarter-finals.

Joining from Ajax where she made 101 appearances, the Dutch International was the starting choice for Leicester on 17 occasions.

Her Ajax tenure saw Kop stand out to clubs across multiple leagues, with Manchester United showing interest last summer.

Tottenham’s search for a goalkeeper since Barbora Votikova’s departure has finally come to an end, as Kop has penned a deal that will keep her at the club until at least June 2028.

Chelsea loanee returns as club sends out more

Chelsea forward Louna Ribadeira has returned from Paris FC following the end of her loan to the French side.

Ribadeira joined Chelsea from Paris FC in the summer of 2024 where she then returned on loan.

At the Division 1 Féminine club, she made over 60 appearances, scoring 13 goals.

The Frenchwoman will now spend the rest of the 2024/25 season on loan at Everton.

She becomes the third Chelsea player to go out on loan so far this season, with Aimee Claypole on loan to Durham and Julia Bartel at Liverpool.
