Arsenal have been linked with a surprise move for Marcus Rashford, as uncertainty continues to surround the forward’s future at Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.
The England international has endured a turbulent period at Old Trafford over the past two seasons.
After falling out of favour and openly admitting he was “ready for a new challenge”, Rashford has spent time away from United on loan, attempting to rediscover his best form.
He spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Premier League club Aston Villa, and is currently at Barcelona, still under Manchester United.
Arsenal consider shock move
According to recent reports, Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring Rashford’s situation, with the forward potentially available for a relatively modest fee this summer.
Former striker Ally McCoist believes the move would make sense, suggesting Rashford could “thrive” under Mikel Arteta if given the opportunity.
However, any deal is far from straightforward. Arsenal already possess strong depth in wide areas, with several established attacking options competing for places.
McCoist himself pointed out that the North London club may need to offload players before making a move.

Uncertain future at United
Rashford’s long-term future at Manchester United remains unclear.
After a difficult spell under previous management, he has struggled for consistency and regular minutes, leading to speculation that the club could be open to selling him permanently.
Reports suggest United are willing to part ways with the forward as they reshape their squad, with Rashford no longer seen as central to their plans.
Barcelona, who he has done decently for on loan with 13 goals and 14 assists in 46 games, are reportedly hesitant to meet the asking price for a permanent deal, which could open the door for Premier League clubs to step in.
A deal still some way off
For now, a move remains speculative. Arsenal’s interest appears to be at an early stage, and much will depend on outgoings, finances, and Rashford’s own preference.
What is clear is that this summer could be a defining moment in the 28-year-old’s career.
Whether he stays at Manchester United or Barcelona, moves to a different club abroad, or makes a controversial switch within the Premier League, his next step will be crucial.
If Arsenal do decide to act, it would be one of the most intriguing transfer stories of the 2026 summer transfer window.
