Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Myles Lewis-Skelly from Arsenal after being approached over a potential £45m deal.
The 19-year-old has been offered to both Premier League clubs following Arsenal’s decision to explore a possible sale after the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle.
Lewis-Skelly enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Arsenal and has established himself as one of the club’s most promising young players.
He can play as both a left-back and midfielder, although the England international has previously expressed his preference to play in midfield.
Despite his importance to Arsenal’s squad, the Gunners are reportedly willing to consider offers as they look to recoup some of the money spent on Guimaraes.
Chelsea reject chance to sign Lewis-Skelly
Chelsea were among the clubs approached over a potential move for Lewis-Skelly, but the Blues have reportedly rejected the opportunity to sign him.
The West London club have been active throughout the summer transfer window and are continuing to strengthen their squad under Xabi Alonso.
However, Chelsea instead focused their efforts on completing the signing of defender Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano, meaning a move for Lewis-Skelly is not currently being pursued.
Lewis-Skelly’s versatility could have made him an attractive option for the Blues, but the club decided to look elsewhere.

Manchester United also turn down offer
Manchester United have also been approached over a possible deal for the Arsenal academy graduate.
However, the Red Devils have reportedly “flatly turned down” the opportunity to sign Lewis-Skelly for around £45m.
United are looking for defensive reinforcements, particularly at left-back, but are focusing their attention on Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall.
Lewis-Skelly remains focused on his future at Arsenal despite the recent transfer interest.
According to reports, the teenager is not currently looking for a move away and wants to establish himself in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.
The midfielder-turned-left-back signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal last summer, which is set to keep him at the Emirates until 2030.
With both Chelsea and Manchester United turning down the opportunity, Lewis-Skelly’s future could now depend on whether Arsenal decide to continue pushing for his departure or keep the youngster as part of Arteta’s plans for the new season.
