Chelsea transfer news: Blues advised to move for Marcus Rashford and Victor Osimhen

Former Arsenal, Chelsea and France defender William Gallas believes Chelsea would be a better destination than Arsenal for Marcus Rashford if the Manchester United forward returns to the Premier League.

Rashford has been linked with an uncertain future after spending time away from Old Trafford, and Gallas admits he was surprised a permanent move to Barcelona did not materialise following a productive spell in Spain.

Rashford would suit Chelsea better than Arsenal

Speaking to talkSPORT Bet, Gallas suggested Chelsea’s style of play would suit the England international far better than Arsenal’s.

“I think Marcus Rashford did well at Barcelona. They had a good system. I’m surprised he didn’t sign for them permanently, I don’t know what happened.

“I don’t know if Arsenal want to sign him, but I would say Chelsea would be a better fit given how they play. I don’t think he would fit at Arsenal.

“I’m sure he wanted to stay in Barcelona, but it didn’t happen. If he has to come back to the Premier League, or maybe go somewhere else like Italy, we will see. But I could picture him at Chelsea.”

Should Jackson stay at Chelsea?

While discussing Chelsea‘s squad ahead of next season, Gallas also weighed in on the club’s search for a reliable goalscorer and questioned whether Nicolas Jackson has done enough to establish himself as the club’s long-term first-choice striker.

The Senegal international has shown flashes of quality since arriving at Stamford Bridge, including during his loan spell at Bayern Munich, but Gallas believes there are still doubts about his ability to consistently deliver when it matters most.

“I don’t know if Nicolas Jackson is the answer for Chelsea. He had his opportunity to be the number one and didn’t fully take it. I’m not sure if he is the right guy.

“To be the right player, you have to score important goals. In the game between Senegal and France, he had a big chance to score and hit the post. His movement was great, but you are asked to score to make the difference, and he didn’t.

“I can see him doing well in spells, but can he do it for a whole season? I don’t know.”

Osimhen backed to make huge impact

Instead, Gallas believes Chelsea should reignite their interest in Victor Osimhen, who has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.

The former defender feels the Nigerian striker possesses all the attributes needed to thrive in English football and make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge.

“My pick is Victor Osimhen. I still wonder why he didn’t come to Chelsea or the Premier League. He has a great profile for it.

“We are still waiting for him, he would be a great choice and have a huge impact.”
