Chelsea Women goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has signed a new two-year contract with the club, extending her stay at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2028.
The England international joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2023 and has quickly established herself as one of the team’s key players.
Hampton’s rise to Chelsea’s No.1
During the 2024/25 season, Hampton played an important role as the Blues secured a domestic treble, winning the Women’s Super League, Women’s FA Cup and League Cup.
Her performances also earned individual recognition. Hampton won the Women’s Super League Golden Glove after keeping the most clean sheets in the competition and was later named Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year (Yashin Trophy) at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.
The 25-year-old has also enjoyed success on the international stage. In the summer of 2025, she helped England retain the UEFA Women’s Euro title, producing a series of impressive displays throughout the tournament.
Hampton’s journey to the top has been an impressive one. After spending part of her childhood in Spain, she developed her game at Villarreal before returning to England.
At 15, she switched from an outfield player to goalkeeper while at Stoke City, later joining Birmingham City.
A move to Aston Villa followed in 2021 before Chelsea secured her signature two years later.
Since then, she has established herself as the Blues’ first-choice goalkeeper, winning back-to-back Women’s Super League Golden Glove awards.

Hampton: ‘I don’t want that journey to stop’
Speaking after signing her new deal, Hampton admitted she was delighted to continue her journey with Chelsea.
“I’m really happy. Chelsea have always been my dream club to play for in England so to be able to extend for another two years is a proud moment.
“When I moved to London from the Midlands, it was my first time moving away from home and everyone at Chelsea made it feel like a home away from home and somewhere I have been able to grow not only as a player but as a person.
“I don’t want that journey to stop and I want to continue to grow more and learn more as a person.
“I am happy and I know there is so much more I can achieve and so much more as a team we can achieve. I am going to do everything I can to help Chelsea get back to being as successful as we have been in the past.”
