As he nears the end of his contract, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Reports suggest that clubs in the Saudi Pro League are interested in the 32-year-old centre-back, who has been a key figure in United’s defence this season under interim manager Michael Carrick.
Maguire’s current deal is set to end in June 2026, and United have not yet confirmed a long-term extension.
Former manager wants Maguire
This situation has opened the door for overseas suitors to make their move for the England international, who will be free come the summer transfer window.
Saudi side Al-Qadsiah, coached by Brendan Rodgers – a former manager of Maguire from their time together at Leicester City – is reportedly keen to bring the defender to the Saudi Pro League.
The club is said to be ready to offer significantly higher wages than he currently earns at Manchester United.
Growing importance under Carrick
The defender has experienced a resurgence in form this season.
After falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim, he has started regularly in central defence and built a strong partnership with Lisandro Martinez under interim head coach Michael Carrick.
His improved performances have also put him back on the radar of England’s national team ahead of major international competitions.
Despite the interest from Saudi Arabia, sources suggest that Maguire prefers to remain at Old Trafford.
According to reports, he is keen to stay at United. From the club’s perspective, there are mixed signals.
United reportedly want Maguire to accept lower pay if he is to commit to a new deal, while also preparing contingency plans in case he leaves.
Younger defenders such as Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven have been mentioned as potential future stars, and United may look to strengthen their squad depth in central defence if Maguire departs.
As the summer transfer window approaches, many will be watching closely to see if Maguire stays at Old Trafford or takes up a big-money offer from the Middle East.
