Khadija Shaw has ended months of speculation over her future after signing a new four-year contract with Manchester City Women, committing her long-term future to the 2025/26 Women’s Super League champions.
The announcement comes after reports had suggested the striker could leave when her previous deal expired this summer.
Shaw announces decision during title celebrations
Shaw revealed the news during Manchester City‘s title celebrations, making a surprise announcement in front of supporters after helping the club secure its first league title in a decade.
The Jamaica international had been linked with a move away, with several clubs reportedly interested in signing one of the most prolific forwards in women’s football.
Speaking during the celebrations, Shaw said, “I am still here, I am still hungry and there is no place I would rather be. After months of waiting, I’m happy to announce that I’m staying at the football club.”
The deal is also understood to be a record-breaking contract in the women’s game.
After months of negotiations, Manchester City reportedly not only matched but improved upon an offer from Chelsea believed to be worth more than £1.2m per season.
Shaw’s new agreement is also said to surpass the annual value of the contract given to Catarina Macario by San Diego Wave earlier this year after the forward left Chelsea.

Man City secure future of key player
The new agreement is viewed as a huge statement from Manchester City, who moved quickly to secure one of their most important players.
Reports suggest the club improved their offer significantly to ensure Shaw remained part of their plans for the future.
Shaw’s importance to City has been impossible to ignore this season. The striker finished as the WSL Golden Boot winner for a third straight campaign after scoring 21 goals in 22 league matches.
Her goals played a major role in City’s title-winning season and further strengthened her reputation as one of the game’s elite forwards.
The 29-year-old has continued to break records since arriving at Manchester City in 2021 and has become one of the club’s biggest success stories.
Her form this season also earned her major individual recognition, claiming the FWA Women’s Footballer of the Season and the WSL Player of the Year.
For Manchester City, keeping Shaw may prove just as important as any new signing. After ending Chelsea’s dominance and reclaiming the league title, the club has now secured the future of the player who led them back to the top.
