EFL Championship betting tips: Gary O’Neil and Steven Gerrard favourites to take over at Blackburn Rovers
John Eustace shocked the Championship after he left play-off chasing Blackburn Rovers for relegation-threatened Derby County.
The 45-year-old cited a desire to be closer to his family as one of the reasons, however, Rovers fans will be more concerned with who will be next to take the reigns at Ewood Park in their bid for promotion.
In the absence of Eustace, Blackburn have won twice, picking up 2-0 victories over West Bromwich Albion and Plymouth Argyle with caretaker manager David Lowe at the helm.
Transfer News Blitz’s Deputy Content Editor Harry Whitfield provides some of the best picks, including the favourite, to be the next Rovers boss.
Gary O’Neil
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss is the bookies’ pick to be the next head coach of Blackburn.
The 41-year-old, who was sacked in December, took charge of 63 games for the West Midlands club, finishing with a 31.75% win rate.
O’Neil guided AFC Bournemouth to safety in the first gig of his managerial career during the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.
However, whilst he may be the favourite, his odds are not very flattering.

Steven Gerrard
If you are a fan of big-name appointments, look no further, Steven Gerrard is the pick for you.
The Liverpool legend became the manager of Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq in the summer of 2023.
He left by mutual consent at the end of last month after 59 games in charge with a win rate of 39%.
Championship sides have been guilty of going for a well-known manager rather than a manager with a pedigree as of late - so it is no surprise that Gerrard is one of the favourites.
Sometimes it works like Frank Lampard’s recent success with Coventry City, and sometimes it fails, like Wayne Rooney’s short stints at Plymouth and Birmingham.

The Underdogs
Lee Carsley and Luis Boa Morte both hold the same odds of becoming the next manager of Blackburn.
The former England boss’ name always gets thrown into the hat when a manager is sacked in the Championship.
As for Boa Morte, his name has come up recently as The Sun claims that Rovers are in talks with the current manager of the Guinea-Bissau national team.
The ex-Arsenal player could make a return to England, and if you fancy taking a point on an outsider, Boa Morte is your man.
