Premier League analysis: Top five signings of the 2024/25 season, Dean Huijsen and Liam Delap included
With the Premier League season nearing its conclusion, Transfer News Blitz have picked the best signings of the 2024/25 campaign.
Liverpool are on the verge of clinching their 20th league title following their first Premier League crowning glory back in the 2019/20 season.
A battle for Champions League football is heating up, with just five points separating fourth-placed Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth down in 10th.
Currently, the three promoted teams - Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton - are likely to face relegation back to the Championship.
But with just eight games left, Transfer News Blitz Deputy Content Editor Harry Whitfield focuses on the best signings of the season.
Lewis Hall, Chelsea to Newcastle United
Although a technicality, Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall has been included in this list after signing permanently in July, following a successful loan spell last season.
The English full-back joined the Magpies from Chelsea for £28million, with £7million in add-ons.
In 27 matches, Hall has provided five assists whilst keeping seven clean sheets.
His form earlier in the season was rewarded with a call-up to the England national squad.
Liam Delap, Manchester City to Ipswich Town
Even though Ipswich Town are close to relegation, signing Liam Delap was one of the better decisions made by the club this season.
Joining from Man City for just £20million, the Englishman has scored 10 goals in 28 games, leaving him the joint 12th top goalscorer in the Premier League.
City reportedly have a buy-back clause, which they could activate should Ipswich face relegation back to the Championship.
The 22-year-old has garnered plenty of interest from other sides too, with Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United reportedly keeping tabs on the centre-forward.
Lucas Bergvall, Djurgården to Tottenham Hotspur
Young Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Bergvall makes the list after an impressive first campaign in England.
The Swede joined Spurs, after reportedly rejecting Barcelona, for only £8.5million from Allsvenskan side Djurgården.
I’ve been really impressed with Bergvall this season; he looks mature beyond his years and has already had a massive impact, scoring the winning goal in the first leg of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
Dean Huijsen, Juventus to AFC Bournemouth
Centre-back Dean Huijsen has been so good for Bournemouth and has even been linked with a move to Real Madrid due to his impressive form.
The Spaniard joined the Cherries in the summer for £15million from Italian giants Juventus.
Huijsen has had a solid season for Andoni Iraola’s men, making 23 appearances, scoring two goals and keeping five clean sheets.
Nikola Milenković, Fiorentina to Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have had a remarkable season so far, on course to qualify for the Champions League and in the latter stages of the FA Cup.
At the centre of their success has been a rock-solid defence, which includes Nikola Milenković.
The Serbian international joined Forest from Italian side Fiorentina for just £12million but has kept 12 clean sheets in 28 games - the joint most of any outfield player alongside Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
The 27-year-old has even chipped in with four goals, including the opener in Forest’s last match - a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town.
