Rangers betting tips: Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard tipped to return to Ibrox dugout as next permanent manager
Following a 2-0 loss to St. Mirren at the Ibrox, Rangers sacked manager Philippe Clement after 16 months in charge.
The Gers have gone on to appoint former club captain Barry Ferguson until the end of the season.
Looking to the future, some huge names have been linked to the job, and Transfer News Blitz’s Content Editor, Edward Moss, has looked at who the bookies are backing to take over Rangers permanently.
Steven Gerrard
Rangers supporters will be more than familiar with Steven Gerrard, whose first managerial job was in charge of the Scottish giants.
The Liverpool legend was appointed in July 2018 and was in the Ibrox dugout for a little over two years.
The 44-year-old’s most recent post was with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, however, he left the club in January.
As Rangers are expected to appoint a new head coach in the summer, it could be an ideal position for Gerrard, who may not want an immediate return to management.

Russell Martin
Following a disastrous spell in charge of Premier League relegation candidates Southampton, Russell Martin has been unattached since mid-December.
The 39-year-old spent a brief six-month spell at Rangers as a player, joining the club on loan from Norwich in January 2018.
Whilst he failed to impress in the English top-flight, the Saints played some excellent football under Martin last season, which saw the club gain promotion from the Championship through the play-offs.

Barry Ferguson
Since taking over Rangers on a temporary basis, Barry Ferguson has led the club to a win and a defeat.
The Scotsman is a hugely popular figure in the blue half of Glasgow, having made 409 appearances for Rangers, winning five league titles, five Scottish Cups and five League Cups.
The 47-year-old already has a wealth of managerial experience with Blackpool, Clyde FC, Kelty Hearts and Alloa Athletic.
There is every chance that the club could keep Ferguson on if he impresses until the end of the season.
BEST ODDS: 10/1 (bet365)
David Wagner
David Wagner was sacked by Norwich City nine months ago after the Canaries' play-off semi-final loss to Leeds United.
The 53-year-old spent 18 months in East Anglia, having previously taken Huddersfield Town to the Premier League in 2019.
Wagner has also had spells at Schalke and Swiss side BSC Young Boys and could prove to be an experienced option for Rangers.
