Liverpool news: Five potential replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold - Jeremie Frimpong included
With it looking like Trent Alexander-Arnold is set for the sun of Madrid in the summer, Liverpool will be assessing their options for a new right-back as the transfer window rolls around.
Conor Bradley seems like the perfect replacement, having already made 50 appearances for the club, but the Reds could look to Europe for other options.
Transfer News Blitz writer Joe Matthews has found five players who could replace Alexander-Arnold.
Daniel Muñoz, Crystal Palace
Daniel Muñoz has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best full-backs this season.
Playing for mid-table Crystal Palace has meant the Brazilian has seen plenty of the ball in attacking areas as well as on the back-foot.
For defenders in Europe’s top five leagues, Muñoz is in both the 99th percentile for tackles per game, with 3.77, and the 94th percentile for expected goals and assists, with 0.29.
Whilst the 28-year-old would likely thrive under the stewardship of Arne Slot, the defender's age may be a put off for the Dutchman.
Lutsharel Geertruida, Feyenoord
Back in April 2024, Lutsharel Geertruida was reportedly spotted in the away end as Liverpool played West Ham at the London Stadium, meaning a move to the Reds would not be out of the question.
The 24-year-old has been linked to several top clubs around Europe including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but it's Tottenham Hotspur who currently lead the race.
Should Slot go in for his former player, the Liverpool boss would be taking on a completely different type of player to Alexander-Arnold, as the Dutchman takes on a much more defensive approach to the right-back position.
Nevertheless, a reunion in the Premier League would be a huge move for Geertruida.

Tino Livramento, Newcastle United
Tino Livramento has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool following his outstanding performances this season for Newcastle United, including a superb outing in the Carabao Cup final against the Reds in mid-March.
Having made his full international debut for England in a 5-0 drubbing of Ireland in November, the Cobham graduate has progressed quietly up the ranks of English football.
The 22-year-old first established himself at Southampton before earning his move to the North East in the 2023/24 season.
Should the Englishman replace Alexander-Arnold alongside Bradley, he would certainly continue to make an impression on teams around the Premier League.
Manchester City are also reportedly keen on Livramento and see the full-back as the long-term successor to Kyle Walker.

Denzel Dumfries, Inter Milan
Denzel Dumfries has been one of Europe’s leading right-backs for years.
He made his first European impression playing for the Netherlands at EURO 2020, scoring twice in four games, and since then has gone on in leaps and bounds.
The 28-year-old has amassed 63 caps for his national side, scoring nine goals in the process, as well as 170 appearances for Inter Milan.
With Liverpool looking to make a charge for the Champions League once again next year, going in for a player who has already played in a final of the competition could be hugely important.
Jeremie Frimpong, Bayer Leverkusen
It is no secret who could be the perfect Alexander-Arnold replacement, and it is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.
The Dutchman’s statistics speak for themself after the defender was part of one of the greatest German teams of all time - the 2023/24 Leverkusen team that lost 0 Bundesliga games all season and won the title by 13 points.
Frimpong contributed nine goals and seven assists in 31 games during that campaign.
The third Dutch right-back to appear on this list boasts being in at least the 90th percentile for statistics such as expected goals, assists and progressive carries - need I remind you, he is technically a defender.
Arguably the only other right-back with such attacking prowess is Alexander-Arnold, hence why Frimpong would be the perfect replacement.
