Man City news: Pep Guardiola eyeing Tino Livramento as Kyle Walker replacement at the Etihad

Manchester City are interested in Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento as the Cityzens prepare for a summer transfer window overhaul of their defence.

Veteran full-back Kyle Walker left the Manchester club in January, departing for AC Milan on loan, with the Italian giants having an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Central defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis joined the club last month, as well as forward Omar Marmoush and midfielder Nico Gonzalez, for a combined total of over £180million.

However, what Pep Guardiola didn’t do was sign a replacement right-back, with Rico Lewis filling in at full-back for City as of late.

City eye-up move for Newcastle man

With that in mind, the Telegraph claims the Spaniard will focus on recruiting in that position, even with Walker set to return from loan in June.

Livramento has reportedly been identified as the ideal solution to Man City’s defensive woes, with the 22-year-old impressing for the Magpies this season.

The former Chelsea academy player has featured in 31 matches for Newcastle across all competitions so far this campaign.

A call-up to the England squad was his reward for the progress he has made with the North East club.

Other targets

Andrea Cambiaso of Juventus has also been mentioned as a potential target for Guardiola’s side this summer.

The versatile wing-back can play on either side and Man City have shown interest in the Italian previously.

As well as bolstering their defence, City will look to continue rebuilding their ageing midfield, with the arrival of Gonzalez being the first step towards that target.

This follows the news of Kevin De Bruyne’s potential move to MLS side San Diego FC, with the Belgian midfielder’s contract running out in the summer.

On the other hand, Ilkay Gundogan is set to trigger a further year at the Etihad Stadium after returning from Barcelona, according to the Telegraph.
