Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah signs contract extension with Arne Slot’s Reds
After months of uncertainty, Mohamed Salah has eased the concerns of the Liverpool fanbase by signing a two-year contract extension.
The Egyptian forward has played a crucial role in the club's pursuit of the Premier League title this season.
He currently leads the goalscoring and assist charts by a significant margin, with 27 goals and 17 assists.
Arne Slot's team have an 11 point lead over second-place Arsenal with seven games remaining, as Liverpool are on the brink of securing their 20th English top-flight title.
The Egyptian king is here to stay
Salah’s previous deal would have seen him leave Liverpool after eight seasons and just under 400 appearances at the club.
However, the 32-year-old has decided to remain at the Merseyside outfit by putting pen to paper on a new deal.
The club teased the announcement via X with a chair fit for a king on the hallowed Anfield turf, before Salah appeared in another post sitting on the chair with the message ‘more in than out’.
The Liverpool cult hero is set to stay until 2027 and he gave his immediate reaction via the club’s website.
“Of course I’m very excited,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.
“We have a great team now.
“Before also we had a great team, but I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“It’s great, I had my best years here.
“I played eight years, hopefully, it’s going to be 10.
“Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football.
“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here.
“I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together.
“Keep supporting us, and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”
